The Public Safety Department at Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) provides 24-hour safety and security services at the airport, including a police force and fire department.

The Department of Public Safety exists to provide the airport community with a safe and peaceful environment for work and travel.

World Class Facilities

In 2016 the Public Safety Department moved into a state-of-the-art 19,000 sq. ft. facility designed to reduce the impact on the environment and deliver the next-generation structural resources needed to best serve the airport team members and passengers.

Dual Certification

All public safety officers are dual certified. These officers receive hundreds of hours of training. Our team of public safety officers continue taking courses after their initial certification to stay informed on evolutions to the law and advancements in public safety equipment.

Transportation Security Administration

The Aviation and Transportation Security Act established TSA (the Transportation Security Administration on November 19, 2001. TSA is an independent operator of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport security checkpoint and oversees the airport’s security line management.
